Default Cant get bike ton run right over 2k rpms

I have had many helpful tips on this forum. Thanks. I can get my 1990 electra glide to idle and run at low rpms but when i go to give it a wrist full of throttle it wants to cut off soon as it reaches above 2ks rpms.I have installed a new carb rebuild kit, the carb is clean and there are no leaks anywhere. Could the guy before me have the wrong jets in it. It has a 43 and a 175 now. The bike has vh straight pipes on it and kn intake. What jet sizes should i have in the carb? I have messed with the fuel air mixture screw for days and still cant get it to run right. I dont want to take it to the harley shop to jet it at this time beacuse i dont have the funds at the moment... Any help would be great thanks...

Did your Kit include a new rubber cover for the top of the carb or did you replace it? You may have a leak there or the wrong needle.

Make sure there is nothing in the main jet,as I had a flake of something that would turn and block flow and was darn hard to see.

Jet size is OK. Sounds like the rubber diaphram at top of carb. Even if it is new, they are tricky to install correctly. A hole or tear in that rubber,or a bit of the edge of it pinched, will do exactly as you are describing.
Does it do this when riding,or just sitting still?

@hdbob2006... When I'm riding it does it .. Someone from my work said it could be the gaskets that go to cylinders from the intake manifold that they may need to be replaced? And that I should run a 185 main jet and 45? Thanks for all the advice ill keep trying till its rideable !

The needle jet is probably in upside down. The needle jet is the silver thing that sticks up into the venturi and the needle sticks into it. On one side it is square on the inside and on the other the inside is radiused. The radiused side goes up and the needle sticks into it. If it is in upside down the engine runs terrible above a fast idle.
Now the above statement is based on the assumption that all else is well with your carb and that the bike ran well before you cleaned the carb. Hope this helps.

Unfortunately it is a common thing for members to ask questions like this - after doing something to their bike! If it was running reasonably well before you stripped and cleaned your carb, then something is not quite right as a result. John has offered one suggestion, the other is to carefully strip and rebuild it once more, going over what you did last time and ensuring everything is just right. Everything must be rigorously clean and perfect, so take your time.

Thanks guys. The bike was sitting for 4 years. It would not run at all before i took the carb apart. Everything is correct in the carb as far as where every part goes i doubled checked. My next thing is im going to buy a couple different jet sizes to see if that will fix the problem . Would they wrong jet size cause the bike not to run over 2k rpms? I see in other threads were people are running diff. Size jets with the same set up i have with aftermarket exhaust and intake.

Thanks
