New to EVO's
So I use to have a sporty, but I bought that new and never is much work to it. I put on my apes and powder coating the rocker covers but nothing major. Well I just bought a '90 heritage, it has 37k on the speedo and I was just looking for some advice on things I should check for before the season really kicks in. Any advice, tips, thing to look for are appreciated. Thanks.
Hi Boom and welcome to Evo land. If you don't know its service history, give it a thorough service from end to end, changing all fluids. Check the date stamp on the tyres and change them if they are over 5 years old. Clean, polish, hug and ride!
I would suggest getting a service manual as well to help out in the long run.
No paperwork for a service history, just his word. So, I'll go over it with a fine tooth comb. Thanks everybody, I can't wait for it to warm up a few degrees. It's been too long since I've been for a ride.
With no paper work the answer is still the same.
Change the fluids check the tires and then go for a ride.
I believe you said this is your first EVO.
Just keep in mind that if the motor sounds like an angry sewing machine then everything is good.
Still the best analogy ever......and true!

im glad you said that. i had a sportser before that, due to my own negligence, ran low on oil and i rode for i dont even know how long. soon after it developed a tick that was bad, real bad. and i heard what sounded like a similar sound but not really, if that makes sense. but an angry sewing machine is exactly what it reminds me of. he said he did the oil at 36k, and it looked good on the dip stick. i drove it about 75 miles from where i bought it to home, drives well. just want to say thanks to you guys in this section, no offense to the soft tail one, but it seems like they are all new bikes over there.
Hell I love ridin my wife's Sportster, even if it is a "chicks" bike
