Cool Torque cones or not......??

What are your thoughts on running torque cones on a good 2 into 1 exhaust?

I have an American Ironhorse (looks near identical to a D&D) 2 into 1 on my 02 Deuce and i've been told that torque cones will still help on most exhaust systems. True or false?

I always thought they only help out with straight pipes with no baffles? I know my old Fatboy with Samson drag pipes (no baffles) improved alot with torque cones.

But on a good 2 into 1?

Your thoughts please............................................ ............................

Not. The cones are meant to break up the reversion wave in instances where the reversion wave works against us. A 2 into 1 uses the reversion wave to its own advantage. If you follow the link below and scroll down to "Exhaust 101" it explains what the reversion wave is and how it can work for us or against us.

Someone correct me if Im wrong but Ive never hear of a need to use an exhaust cone in a 2:1 system. Hence the "s" in cones, they are sold in pairs

The cones go into the head pipes at the exhaust ports. I would urge everyone to hit the link I posted above as it will give one a whole new understanding of how an exhaust system works (or should work). Misconceptions are incredibly common.

If you're talking about WHEN American Iron Horse designed the pipes for D&D to make, you'd be correct. But D&D stopped making American Iron Horse pipes around 2007 - 2008.

A good well designed exhaust doesn't need torque cones. Been running my 2-into-1 for several years, as it was delivered - had the bike dynoed and it gives excellent torque curve and very smooth running.
