Default Engine Troubles

Got an 02 fuel injected Road King Classic. Vance & Hines true duals with Samson Rolled Thunder Ovals. Arlen Ness big sucker and Power Commander. Bike has just over 18k miles.

Several days ago I began to hear knocking coming from the front cylinder, near the top. The bike began to stutter and spit through the breather. A bit rough at idle and if idling long enough, will shut down. I don't feel any loss of power but then again, I'm not exactly gunning it. Bike and I are out of commission until I can get this fixed.

Any ideas or suggestions on the cause? Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it could be the fuel filter or a line leaking in the fuel tank.

intake gasket leak = motor runs rough, coughs through tb, gets hot then shuts down.

i think that may be it.

What about the knocking that's going on in the top end of the front cylinder? I may go ahead and switch out the air cleaner to the Screamin Eagle or K&N and see if that makes any difference.

Could be be valve train problem, leaking valve= hot head= bad idle=detonatioin. If it's using to much fuel too, it could be a bad injector or map sensor. bad map sensor may not throw an engine code. Bad map sensor= rough idle=hot engine=too much and or too little fuel= detonation.
