Default upgrade my 96 to 110 or 117 or 120 or ??

Hi Folks,

I've got a 2007 Street Bob with a 2/1 V&H Big Radius, a Drak airfilter from the same brand and a Dyna PCIII, it's nice, but I would like a bit more now

Jims is making a 110 and 117 without splitting the cases and a 120" or a 124" stroker kits which require splitting the cases and the purchase of flywheel assembly.

the first kit cost $1388.75 and the second $2992.95, and that's more than double !

I suppose the 117 would be less reliable than a 120 and the 124 less than the 120 etc...

As for the price what do I have to ad to this kit, the cams of course but what else ? how much would this cost without the handwork ?

Is there another manufacturer's kit that you would rather take ?
S&S ? Ultima ?

I would also wanna keep the components I already have (pipes etc...)

Thanks for your imput

Take a look at Head Quarters
They have build sheets and kits for all sizes up to 120" IIRC. Good tech support from their forum members, too, which incl the owner.

here's for the link to Jims http://www.jimsusa.com/online_catalogs.php

Thanks BigGdawg I'll take a look

In the meantime I've got another question, it says for the 110 and 117 kit "without splitting the cases" !! I thought that 103 was the maximum possible without drilling !

107 can be done without splitting the cases, if you go big you might want to look into doing the crank and bearings while you have the casings opened. I went the easy/cheap route, cams and a 30T pulley,it cost about $500. and gave me a big bang for my buck.

I think that 4" the biggest piston you can put in stock '96 head, so this makes 103ci, but if I'm wrong and a 110 or 117 will fit in there, well I'll probably do it !

What else did you do and for what kind of "big bang" ?

HQ says they can build a 107" without splitting the cases. Bigger requires a stroker crank.

107" with a Wiesco piston/gasket set, via boring the OEM cylinders.
Set-up correctly, they are a formidable powerplant, whether purpose-built for touring, or Dyna application.
But if going into the deep end of the pool, and never wondering if "I should have done that", then a full-on, 124" is the way.
Power delivery well north of 140/140 is well within reach.
Scott

I thought that you could do a screaming eagle 110 with the stock crank but had to bore the cases to clear the rods. Seems like a waste of time to me if you are going to go that far and not address the crank.

Probably dont need to worry about the crank w/any of the SE builds. They dont make enough power to worry about it . Like Scott said if you are going big enough that you have to split the cases then I would say 117 at minumum. 135ftlbs of tq +/- should keep you happy for awhile.
