Smile fuel tank?

Glad to be here.
I would like some information on this tank. I was told it would fit a 2000 Road King. I noticed it has a D shaped hole and 5 screw holes on the left side where the gas gauge goes, can someone tell me what this hole is for? I have a 2001 RK it only has a small hole for the wires to go through for the gas gauge. This one also small hole for the wires and the big D shaped hole. Is it possible for me to uses this tank on my 2001? Thanks

It looks a good deal older than your bike. There are plenty of tanks available out there, so I would suggest you find one that will definitely fit your bike. Try the Classifieds here on HDF, also Ebay - you may be surprised how cheap they can be. If you want a challenge you could consider one of the latest 6-gallon tanks!

with alot of research i think i found the answer. if anyone is interested this tank uses a 35-0603 75062-90 fuel tank sensor it mounts over the D hole with the 5 screws leaving an opening for the wires to go out the bottom of the tank..
