Default Cam for 96"?

I want to put a cam in my 2010 Fatboy 96". I was thinking of going with an Andrews 54 or a Woods TW 6-6. I am using a 2 into 2 exhaust, a free flow aircleaner and tune.

I dont want to pull heads to increase compression, change pistons etc. Im on a strict budget.

Anyone have any dynos of a 54 ? Any other recomendations?

I think the Andrews 54 would give some good mid-range but that cam probably needs 103" to get its full capability out. I'd go for the TW6-6 -in fact I've just ordered a pair for my 08 Road King together with V&H Dresser Duals. Jackpot mufflers and SE/K&N Air filter set-up. That's my recommendation having done the same sort of homework you're doing as I believe it will work better at both 96" and 103".

Low end? If you putt around town, short shift and spend a great deal of time below 3k that TW 6-6 wouldn't be bad. Some guys like the SE 255's as well.

Mid range? The SE 204 peaks at about 2800 and holds pretty flat until about 5800.

Top end ( I don't have a lot of knowledge here but I am sure the other guys do but this application you would pick if you are bouncing off the limiter a lot).

Bottom line is you have to explain your riding habits a bit more for people to narrow down the choices.

Those two cams you mention like more compression than stock. I have the 54's in a 105" at 10.2:1 and have a nice long flat torque curve, but I wouldn't really want it in a stock compression 96". If you are leaning toward the Wood cam, you might want a 4 degree advance unless you spend a lot of time in upper RPM ranges. The Wood cam would also work in a 103-107" with bumped compression as well.

All depending on what you are looking for, but good low to midrange cruising cams would be like Andrews 26 or 37, Headquarters 500, SE255 or 204, Wood 6-6 (with the advance gear), T-Man 525 (advance gear might not be a bad idea here either). Just some suggestions of general purpose bolt in cams to juice up stock motors.

Like todd said though, it really depends on what your riding style is and where you want the power to come on.

The SE204's are a great all around cam for a street bike or andrews tw26, any cam larger is a waist of money and work , start with the cam and go from there. Horsepower is by the dollar! the more HP you want the more you'll spend, on a heavy bike i'd rather go with the torque than HP . Like they say, Depends how you ride and where you want your power at. 99% of people don't ride at 5500rpm's.

I want it all LOL. I like low end grunt but dont want it to fall off too soon. I ride solo but weigh 300lbs. My buddy and I drag race from every light and sometimes go to the strip. We also fly on the hwy sometimes.

My old bike was a CVO Road glide, 110" with 255 cams. Those cams are dead after 4000 rpm and I hated that.

So I guess what Im saying is I want something that pulls from around 2300 to 5500 and has crisp throttle response.

Woods website has lots of Dyno runs with the TW6-6 on stock 96". Most of them have big flat torque lines starting with 80lbs at 2500rpm rising to over 100lbs. The hp looks nice too with most of them peaking at over 90. Sounds great but kinda too good to be true.

Im pretty sure my pipes will limit my HP to around 80 but not effect torque too much.

SE-204 cam worked well for me! I'm pleased with the results.

Thanks for the link. Looks like a good option. Does it run quiet?
