Apparently even Harley considers stock 88 and 96 essentially the same in power. Check out the Screamin' Eagle Pro Racing Part Catalog here:
http://www.harley-davidson.com/wcm/C...p?locale=en_US

Note on page 22 and 23 under the dyno charts where it says "EFI Twin Cam 88/96 Stock VS. 103 C.I." (with whatever upgrade it is). It does say the curve on the chart is for the 88". I guess the 96" is so close to the 88" that they didn't bother doing another chart showing the 96" vs the 103 with upgrades.

Not that this will stop me from buying a 96 next year hopefully (have a baby on the way so can't swing it this year). The 96 likely has a lot of potential... just needs a few things to uncork that power.

If you look in the P&A catalog in the SE section, they have some charts for 96" stock vs 96" stage I. They're showing a little over 80 lb-ft at 3k rpm and maybe 66hp max for a stock 96". The stock 88" is 70 lb-ft at 3k rpm and maybe 58hp max. The charts in the SE catalog are a little confusing, but I think they're saying the 103 numbers would be the same for a bored 96" and a bored and stroked 88".
A couple weeks ago at dealer demo day, I rode a stock '07 Street Bob and a stage I '06 Wide Glide back to back. They felt about equally quick to me, not a very definitive test, just sayin'.
