Replacing Fuel Filter on 02 EFI Ultra
A friend has a 2002 Ultra Classic with EFI. He needs to replace the fuel filter (which I believe is inside the tank). Fortunately, he does have a service manual for his bike. I offered to help him do it, but I have a couple of questions. First, do you have to drain the fuel tank to remove the fuel filter/pump components (I believe the manual says drain the tank)? Second, are we biting off more than we can chew by trying to replace the filter ourselves? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Bought a 99 Ultra in 2010 with 2200 miles. It had sat for 4 or so years, fuel pump did not work, full tank of gas. Pulled mine apart, no shop manual-then. I did siphon the gas out, as much as I could, so I would recomend running as much out as possible, but no need to completely empty/drain it.
No you did not bite off more then you can chew. Pull the console off the tank, the screws that hold the cover for the tank, and you are in there.
