Default Upgrading from 96 to 110 cubic inch Engine?

Hi All,

I'm used to riding a Night Rod Special and just stepped up and bought a 2007 Fat Boy. I'm thinking about replacingthe96 cubic inch V twin witha 110 Screaming Eagle. I'm interested if anyone has any thoughts on this pro or con.

Thanks.

400 miles on mine.. Love it.. Currently a bit lean, we are going to fatten it up around 5/600 miles..

If you're not "stuck" using an HD kit, you can get more power (for a lot less $$$) with a 107" kit from www.Head-Quarters.com. Additionally, no case splitting / case boring required.....

Actuallythe installof the 110 was going to be done by the dealer. So the warranty would be intact. I asked them how many of them that they did: The answer was zero 110's. Plenty 103's. When I was in Viet Nam I used to go first -- walk point. That's how I got hurt. I think when it comes to new engines, it might not be a good idea to be the first guy. Particularly when I read here and there that the 110 might have problems with running hot.

I'd feel a lot better if I got the 110 from the factory in the form of a Screaming Eagle bike. But having the dealer's mechanics doing what the factories robots do might be just asking for problems. I'm told the factory's robots really never have a bad day.

Good point.... I can;t think of a dealership around here, I'd let split & bore my cases.

If the 107 presents a warranty issue, go with 103. It would be a bunch cheaper from a labor perspective.

Cant say mine runs any hotter (temp wise anyways) than stock.. If you look at the bore jig, it would be hard to mess up the boring job IMO. 400 mile later, no leaks, no issues, starting to break in nice now

Check out the FLHRSEI.ORG forum under twin cam. They talk about several/too many 110's taking a crap.

I consider that 110 CI does not worth the $$$ if you that a look a the difference of HP and TQ from the 103 CI. I did a 103 CI on 2007 FXDB and for 2000$ less (canadian dollars) than the 110 CI, I have nearly the some HP and TQ....... So why do a 110 CI???
