Default 2006 Sportster throttle response issues

Hello. I have a 2006 XL883c sportster. The bike is stock with a set of cycle shack slipons and I just replaced the spark plugs. The bike starts up and idles good but after driving for a few minutes when rolling to a stop and getting back on the throttle, the bike spits, sputters, back fires and dont respond to the throttle. Once this condition is overcome by revving, the bike rides great with a lot of power until taking off from the next stop. This is most noticable at operating temperature but seems to be getting worse over time.
Does anybody know of a solution to this problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated.
