Default Question about 06 dyna and screamin eagle cams

So the 06 dyna is the oddball because of the updated camchest. I am trying to do a big bore kit on my bike and have been looking at cams first. My question is the screamin eagle 203 cams will not fit my bike right? I need the 204 cams correct

Another question related. I plan on getting these cams to go with a big bore 95 kit. I plan on using stock 103 3 7/8 take off pistons and keeping the hydraulic tensioners. I am not shooting for the most hp out of my motor. I just want a cam that mildy helps the up in displacement. I am not planning on headwork so I don't want anything with a super high lift or crazy stats

The 204 is well suited for your application; however, you cannot use the 103" pistons as they are designed for the 4.375" stroke crank, not the 4" stroke. You should use the cast flat top pistons for the 95" upgrade; same bore but different skirt design.

I know you say "no headwork" but the 204s like some compression. At a minimum have the chambers measured and shave enough off to set chamber volume at 80-82ccs, use a .030" head gasket and you should see close to 100TQ and mid 90sHP with that setup. The 204s are a very underrated cam.

Of course, you need a good fuel management system like TTS, PCV or SEST and a good tune.

What would you guys recommend for cams then? I will run them for awhile before I do the big bore but I would prefer not to spend 400 bucks just for cams that why I like the screamin eagle ones for 259.99

Not saying you can't run the 204s; just saying they would perform better with some compression. The Andrews 21 would work well as a bolt-in cam as well.

The link is to American Classic Motors Ebay store, specifically the Andrews 26 cams but not suggesting you buy them; just wanted you to see that there are aftermarket cams that don't cost $400. I didn't see an add for the 21 cams but call ACM, I am sure they have them at the same price.

The '06 heads were much improved over previous years; a bolt in cam will provide a noticeable boost. Suggest you upgrade the inner cam bearings while you are in the cam chest.

Most deffinately new bearings are goin in along with a Baisley spring. The better bearing are the whole reason I want to do the cams. I figure I might as well do a cam upgrade when I do the bearings and put a higher flow spring in there

The Baisley spring (LMR-002 not the LMR-004) is a good idea but it doesn't improve flow. It will help low rpm oil pressure though.

Here is a link to a set of SE203 cams; decent price if you are looking to save a few $$$. Add didn't specify model year; you will have to check.

203 cams won't work though they are for older 88 motors. Mines the newer style cams
