Default D Carb and 1250cc

I have a super D with two thunderjets that i can use for free on my sporty. Is the carb too big or can I make it work? It will be for the race track only. It currently has a mikuni 45 on it. Or maybe just the D without the thunderjets? thanks

I know a g would work because a friend of mine runs one on his drag bike with the same engine set up as mine. But a free carb is a free carb. I just need an intake. Im not concerned about how the bike reacts under 5200rpm either.

i am a mikuni fan....only because i have never had an s&s

Doesn't mean it won't work though, does it? How much bigger is the d? I currently run up to a 187.5 main with the 45. How many mm is the d? They also said I couldn't fit a 1.98 valve in it. But we did. I know the d is prob to big. I'm looking to have opinions on it if I do set it up. What's the worst that could happen. I'm looking to pick up tenths or hundredths in the 1/4

The velocity of that D on a 74" engine will be low, not creating the cylinder fill you'll want for the desired power output.
A B would work, but a D is BIG.
You could try it, as it is free.

It's a 1.98 intake valve...not a 1.94. Not a huge difference. But it's still bigger. I don't care about falling on its face under 6000 grand. Cylinder fill is max at 6200 I assume since that's where it peaks the tq. Im looking to squeeze more power out of the big end.

Since you do this all the time. How many pump gas 1250cc sportys you putting out that make 1.51 hp per cubic inch?

Thanks for the info. Any idea where I could start for a baseline for jets? Thanks again

did a 1200 buell for a guy in Indiana who`s doing 119hp,a 89" XL in illinios that runs 9.5`s in the 1/4 (and was ridden from Chicago to Sturgis & back),a SG AHDRA 1200XL bike that was un-defeated for 2 years & a AMRA P/M XL that's leading in points to name just a couple.if your heads will support it (flowing atleast 280 @ 28") and your going to twist the **** out of it,go for it
