you guys are on track, calipers make the biggest difference, more pad area more stop, forget 2 piston junk, i installed 6 piston hawg halters with brake tech floaters, direct fit works great, as stated forks make a difference, harleys mushy setup robs braking when the forks dive, theres options out there you need to spend a few more $$$$ to get the GOOD STUFF

Are the HD Brembo calipers a direct bolt on for an 02 E-Glide?
I've often thought about switching to aftermarket calipers, but never did because.....
a) where do get the brake pads from when you need them?
b) I can get HD pads at any dealer and indy!

Direct bolt up but you need 300mm rotors. I would not use the stock HD pads as they do not stop that well + make dust while wearing your rotors. The removable rear caliper without removing the rear wheel is worth it by itself.

I found that the rear wheel is also easer to mount to the bike due to the thinner mountingboss on the 08 Brembos, but the Rear caliber is not a direct bolt on as are the frount calibers. The 08 rear mount has a 25mm axle bore and will need to be openedup forthe 1" axle found on 02 - 07 bikes. Since the mounting boss is also thinnera new spacer is needed for the right side. I cut down an extraleft side spacer to .71.

I believe if you search someone (I can not remember who) did an excellent pictorial on this very subject. The piece was very well done. I did not want to say so as I could not remember who wrote it. If you plan doing this job search for the person who did it. It was several months ago & well worth the time to invest in finding it. The person also converted & used the rear master cylinder & showed what modifications are needed. I have no knowledge in whether you need to change the front & rear M/C, that you will need to find out for yourself. Do a volume check on both & if it matches, you will not need to, if both M/C's are not the same, you will need to change them. You must match the M/C to the calipers in volume. I am sorry I can not give the author on the article. Maybe I could get someone with a better recall than I.

I believe 03dragonrk did a post with a lot of pics on his conversion to the '08 Brembo setup. You can do a search to find it. I just finished mine on my '02 Ultra and i love it. Lots of reasons to change. The brakes on my '02 have gotten real soft and was ready to go to S/S lines and clean the calipers but then saw the '08's. Just make sure you use ALL '08 parts. From the banjo bolt that attaches the brake line to the master cylinder to the bleeders at the rotors. You will also need 2 of the shorter calioper mount bolts as they are all short. Ebay has several sets from time to time and it is much cheaper then dealer.I was also able to change to Dot 4 from the Dot 5. I like the Dot 4 much better. Don't forget all '08 parts master cylinder to rotors. Oh yea, I used the Lyndall pads and love them.

I clicked on 03dragonrk trying to find the post by the 100 last post method but came up with 0 posts. Who ever did it made a J-Peg showing what was needed. If 03dragonrk did it, maybe he could include the link to the post. Very worthwhile & a credit to the HDF community!
