Looking to fix this damage to the front fairing of an FXRP. Not really sure how to go about it. Pod light seals I've seen on eBay. But how best to tackle the other cracks in the fairing; the previous attempts at repairs ...and then to re-paint the repaired areas (HD color, paint code, etc?). The fairing is OP so I'd hate to re-paint the entire unit.
Has anyone done this before? Did you do it yourself? If you used a body shop, how much did it cost? Were you happy with the results?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thanks .. Cheers
We've had several RT/RP's come thru the shop and honestly that's not really bad compared to what I've seen. Usually we see cracks under and around the light pods, at the mounting stress points and the end near the bar grips (like yours). Once you take it off I'm guessing you'll find there is enough damage all around the fairing that you probably won't be able to save the original paint if you want to repair and reinforce the cracking. In the one pic it looks like the tank is a different shade of white already.
