I realize the fxr was sold with center fill tanks that the moco advertised as 4.2 gal. capacity. They disclosed in owner's manual that the true capacity is 3.8 gal. Thats ok. It was 30 to 40+ yrs. ago and they were rounding off the numbers. The math however works out like this...3.8 gal. minus 0.4 gal. in reserve = 3.4 gal. Reserve is always subtracted from capacity, not added. If your adding 0.4 in reserve to the capacity then you are doing the math wrong. Non of this changes the fact that you will need to make frequent stops to relieve yourself and fill up the tank depending on your riding habits.

I like that my 2019 FLHTP is capable of 220 miles to a tank. That means I can choose when to stop as long as I do not exceed 220 miles. Compared to having to stop because of limitations. Stopping at a tourist spot instead of a fuel station is nice.

Most of my trips are under 400 miles a day, so we tend to stop at 150-160 miles. Unless we have someone in the group that only has a 100 mile range.

Goose, I certainly can understand that. The comfort level and tank capacity on the baggers are why so many riders prefer them.
