Patent ?????
Just looking for a little knowledge here. Anyone out there make a part for your bike and felt so good about it you wanted a patent and copyright for it? If so how did you go about it? How long did it take to get your patent? How much cash did it set you back to get your patent? Was it worth getting your patent? Is it worth getting a copyright to go along with your patent?
some advice on patents...they are only worth what you are willing to spend defending them, I know this the hard way, we have won a few and lost a few. Patents keep honest people honest, then there are the people like VTWIN who will knock your product off in a minute, have it produced in China, and sell it through distribution cheaper than you can make it. Not trying to be a killjoy, but your patent better be world wide, damn tight, and you better have the pocketbook to back up the enforcement of it, cause if it's a great idea, the sharks will be circling before you can blink.
I made a speedo relocator on my Dyna when I installed 2" risers,,, everyone wanted to know where i bought it,,,funny thing is,,, now occasionally, I'll see superglides with my idea on them,,,,seems good things get around fast.. as far as patten,,, well peeps above already said it
Im still trying to get my Screaming Eagle Stage I ***** Pump patent, but its just one road block after another.
