I can't speak to Progressive's product, but while you're doing your research, take a look at Shotgun Shocks. Without a doubt, the best mod I've made to either of my bikes. Product is great and so is their service. JD is the owner.

Thanks for the suggestion, I was also leaning toward the 12.5" Progressives and they sound like the answer I'm looking for; however thowk, I will check out Shotgun Shocks as well.

I'm also 71 YO. Bought Sportster 1200V 72 when they first came out on 2012. Loved the look but the ride was borderline dangerous as well as terribly uncomfortable. I ride my Sportster like a Sport motorcycle. Don't do much touring. I put Progressive 412 13 inch shocks (2 inches longer) on rear. Really improved handling and comfort. Soon discovered I needed to do something to front end. Stock forks dove under hard breaking and drifted in fast sharp turns. I put in Progressive fork springs and Bel Ray 10w fork oil. It raised front 3/4 inch due to less sag. I now love the way it handles.
I weigh considerably more than you. 12.5 shocks on rear and Progressive fork springs with 7 wt fork oil should solve your problem.
One final note: Each inch in additional shock length will raise rear 2/3 inch because mounted at an angle

Both TRUE. I like the firm part but not the pricey part- but still think it was the best mod for me.
