I called for the payoff on my bike so I could pay it off a little early. Apparently their computer doesn't do math so well. Over paid by a little so they sent me the difference....

A check...technically, it is. But when it's a refund, they're just returning YOUR money, not giving you THEIRS. I call "cheater" on this one!
HD offered me a "Customer Liaison" position recently on Saturdays and Sundays. I asked them how was I going to ride if I was working. Also that I was between jobs. The one I had and the one I'm not going to take.
My wife didn't support my decision. I think it's time to trade in.

computer does math fine. usually when you get a payoff amount, it is for a point in time in the future (usually 10 days). when you send the payment, if it is credited on the 8th day, then they will refund you 2 days worth of interest.
this is to keep you from coming up short when you go to payoff your vehicle.
You should have sent them a couple thousand dollars extra, then they'd send you an even bigger check, and you'll have all that money to buy new bike stuff with.
Not unlike getting a huge tax refund.

and in some cases the amount they send you back is less than the cost of the postage to send it....
