RE: Why did YOU buy a Harley?
always had and rode sportbikes.always wanted but couldn't really afford a harley. a few years ago 3friends diedin a 6 month period while riding and i stopped riding for the wife. a year ago i was able to talk her into the harley. "see baby look how slow it is. all these cats on harleys don't ride like the sb crowd. i'll be alot safer since its so much slower." yep thats right, lied my *** off to get what i wanted. amazingly i actually have slowed down and have become a more responsable rider too. don't know how as my immaturity is at an all time high right now.

When I was a little kid my uncle had one.Loud as hell oil spewin' machine and I knew I wanted one. When I was 17 I got a sweet deal on a Kawasaki Z1R.Sold it, toyed with a Katana a little but FINALLY got to a point where I could afford what I wanted.Right after I bought it my mom gave me a pic of me on my uncles bike with an HDhat and sunglasses.I was 5 or 6 years old.I have to go cry now.

First started with a Suzuki to many years ago to remember then came family and now that I am old enough to know better I did it any way. Always been a dream and when I first started riding it was a passion to own a Harley and now I do..

I waited 20 years for it. I was a dirt biker and dual purpose freak. I could not avoid a dirt road, trail, logging road. Had to know where they went. Collapsible fishing pole was part of the bike. After 30 years of getting that out of my system, I am on a Harley. Those single 650 thumpers kept feeling too small. I found I was exploring more real roads and going farther on each ride. Harley was always the "street bike" in my mind. Now its in the garage. Actually, its ready to go for a ride. Temp is up to 45 right now, Geez, may have to wear a t-shirt!! Time to ride.

I rode Jap bikes for years (couldn't afford a harley) then I got married with children and went 15 years without a bike at all when it was time to get another bike it sure wasen't going to be another Jap bike, now I could afford a Harley! Went to an indy in Phoenix just to look at the used bikes and low and behold the wife wanted the best looking bike on there lot after I showed her the others I was interested in (got to love her to death) rode it home 2 days later. We have been racking up miles ever since. 99 roadking EFI
