Default Pressure Washer

Thinking of getting an electric pressure washer for around the house, nothing crazy.

Does anyone use one to clean their bike?

I have no problems using the pressure washer at the car wash on all of my motorcycles.

If my bike is really dirty I will take a pressure washer to it in a second...there be lots of people along soon to tell you the many ways you will destroy your bike with a pressure washer...but if you use common sense you won't hurt a thing.

I'll use it for the underneath, get all that road grime off the bottom.

Never really tried that on my bike but like what was said here,if you use a little common sense I'm sure it would be fine.

Nope. Never. Damn thing'll take the paint off yer car, can't imagine what it'd do to bearings & electronics. I use as little water as possible when I wash my bike.

Don't use a pressure washer on your bike. You're asking for trouble. I'll use them on a trip, but stand far away from the bike.

I bought an electric pressure washer. It was really wimpy, and burnt out after 1 year. Don't leave it running, without the trigger pressed, it overheats the seals.

If you really want a pressure washer, get a gas one.

Agreed. I've had both. Th electric washers from the home improvement stores are little better than a good hose nozzle.

The gas washers cost more, but will make really good pressure. A little more maintenance involved tho. You really need to keep "Stabil" in the gas if it's gonna sit for long periods of time.

Stay away from the obvious parts. electrical stuff, wheel bearings, spoke nipples, paint.

But honestly, unless your bike is really REALLY grimey, you don't need one. Spraying a good degreaser on the dirty areas, followed by a brush and a regular hose to rinse will do for 90% of normal dirtiness.

I agree with the above. Regular hose pressure is all you need. I use S100 bike cleaner and hose it off - works great.
Personally I'd stay away from a pressure washer.
