These guys make a good vest at a descent price. I have one and I've been very happy with it.

You may not want to spend it but a "good vest" will cost around $150 without that stupid bar and shield stamp of approval.


Sunderhill mentioned Fox Creek, they make real good stuff. A Langlitz goatskin would be the best out there but at a heart stopping price.


Those $30 -50 vests are Pakistani water buffalo and you will know it in the rain or crash.

don't buy cheap leather vest and make sure they will fit over your leather jacket during cool weather riding.

Espinoza's are the best I have found. Expect to pay more than $150 though.
