There should be away to block phone usage while your in a car.

I was on Hwy 17 in Myrtle Beach this past week. A four lane divided highway with right turn lanes. I was in the turn lane and some guy, looking at his phone, walked right into the middle of my lane. I stopped about 25 feet from him and sat there for a few seconds until he noticed he almost got ran over. Not a single hint of emotion on his face and he just turned around and walked away looking at his phone again.

 

Probably in his 30's too I bet....

 

The other day a woman in Baltimore was killed when she was playing it and walked into the path of a motorcycle

If there was a way, they'd find a way around it. And there's laws about texting and even using a phone in a moving vehicle. It's not enforced enough, difficult to enforce and the penalties amount to a speeding ticket. Even if it was the same as a DUI, it wouldn't stop them...it hasn't stop the drunk drivers!

My cousins wife almost ran a kid over the other day because he walked straight out into the road in front of her car.

My brother saw a guy yesterday who walked into traffic, in front of a moving truck, never looked up from his phone. He started walking in circles in the road oblivious to the fact that he'd nearly been mowed down and the truck was waiting for him to move.

My brother works on a college campus and he says it's like the zombie apocalypse there, everyone shuffling around staring at their phones.

 

Another reason every driver should be issued one large-bore handgun and permission to fire one free shot each day at whomever is most deserving.

I think we will eventually see certain applications on phones disabled if the phone is moving. And tough sheit to any passengers. I'm amazed at the number of people I see driving while they are looking down at their phone. I try to observe the behaviour of anyone behind me, and will move out of the lane if they are following too close or not attentive.

 

Yeah, it's time to change the name to Darwinism Go.
