Default Lifter oil port placement

I'm putting new lifters in my bike and the one I'm taking out have the oil port facing away from the cylinders. A video I watched says they should face towards the cylinders. Can anyone give me some more advice on this?

Doesn't matter as pressurized oil fills recessed lifter area

Correct for Twin Cam engine.

Hole goes inboard for an Evo.
