Default When buying new bike

I recently got approved for a 2016 iron 883 and I was wondering if a dealership will work out a deal to have forward controls put on ? I haven't signed anything yet. I'm young and this is my first big purchase. Any help would be greatly appreciated

They'll do anything for you to your bike BUT be prepared to pay big for it. Just ask them first what parts and labor will be.

Save yourself some $$ and try riding it stock for awhile. Nothing in the Universe screams " I'm a NooB" more than forward controls on an 883".

I don't want them for looks. I'm 6'2 so mid controls are very comfortable

Have you ridden before? Tons of Garage Queen 883s out there, from people who bought one and then didn't like riding. Why not buy used?

Try and negotiate that with the dealer along with the price of the bike. They will happily add anything you ask for, and may charge you MSRP on the parts plus labor. You can certainly try to negotiate for that- the 2017's are arriving very soon, so you may be in a good position to get a 2016 at a reduced price- it cannot hurt to try. Make what you feel is a reasonable offer for the entire package, and go from there.

If you're 6'2" tall, you'll look like the proverbial "Monkey humping a football" riding a 883. You better rethink your purchase and get a larger bike.

I'm 5' 8" and my 883 Has forward controls, very comfortable. Also don't look bad either. You are correct to go for function over looks by the way.

Too bad you aren't buying a Ironhead Sporty, I have a set of forwards laying around in the garage, or half a set.

A wideglide will fit you much better and it has forward controls already.
