I usually do this on every bike motor that I do. Yes everything needs to come apart, and the wait time varies, but its usually around 3-4 weeks. They say it helps make the bike run cooler, but I have my doubts there. It does make the bike LOOK cooler, in my opinion, especially if you go and do all the other stuff to detail the motor. If you decide, go for the show cut, its worth the extra cash. All my bikes have been show winners at some point and time, so I like the look. Not everybody does, thats ok. It does make the motor easier to keep looking good, as the edges always keep their shine.

you know the situation with ward's parts werks and love jugs? well, diamond cut heads is kinda the same. bike builders have been doing this for years, but they decided to call it a 'cooling process' and get a patent. then they sent cease and desist letters to anyone and everyone who had been doing it threatening to take them to court.
as far as i'm concerned, they won't get a dime of money from me. your choice whether or not to patronize them.

My 2004 custom
have 04 custom motor base done with hammer tone grey speckle paint then the heads and barrels done really sets off the look like. On this one don't know if would do to my shovel like the natural look black barrels natural aluminum just my two cents worth. Ride Safe. Wild Bill
And yes you need to send barrels and heads in to have done. Uncle Larry mentions one place well known for there work. Good luck
