Well, back when my Evo Softail was new, the first service interval was 500 miles. When the Twin-Cam came along, the MoCo bumped the interval to 1000 miles.
If if I remember correctly, the Springer Softail requires a check of the fork rocker bearings at 500 miles. That's why that bike is different.
