Default 5 Thoughts on Harley-Davidson's Acquisition of Ducati

5 Thoughts on Harley-Davidson's Acquisition of Ducati
by Thomas Mabson

Two of the most well-known brands in the motorcycling world may come together in an Italian-American combo that may be the best thing since deep dish pizza. See what could happen now that Volkswagen is letting go of Ducati.

I don't reallly care if they do. Either way, it won't make me buy a Ducati or sell my bike. I don't understand why they'd buy it, considering the slump they're in.

they do build incredible twins, the horsepower and torque they get from just 1200cc is really good. plus when it comes to getting the weight down they know a few tricks

If I were on the H-D board I would recommend firing the CEO if he backs acquiring Ducati.

It would be the monstrous mistake that was made with MV only they would lose 20 times the dollars.

Bring back Buell! Also spend the money to find weight and cost reductions of the entire line of bikes. That and that alone would bring a diverse and larger group of buyers to H-D.

By the way ending Buell was the only other mistake that H-D made.

Most likely, HD will NOT acquire Ducati. Ducati will figure out a way to put together a management buyout. That is what HD did in 1980, remember?
HD needs to get fixed but it will NOT be by acquiring Ducati, or any other bike mfg.

Trust me.
