Question Securing bike with 'ratchet straps' ?

While the bike is up on my lift I have a lot of trouble keeping the 'straps' tied on. I usually loop the hook round the bars and clip onto the strap and the same at the jack points but when ratcheting, one or other of the 'hooks' will fall off. Was thinking of trying to 'close' the gap on the hook but they're pretty thick. Any ideas ?...b.

I'm not sure I'm understanding what you're looking for completely...but from it sounds like something similar to either of these products (or a combination of the two) might help you out.

These ratchet straps have safety clips on the hooks which is what I think you're looking for.

The Harley brand ratchet straps are nice, but also about $65.

pull most of the excess strapping thru the ratchet leaving enough to get at least 1 wrap around the barrel before it's tightens up, then pull out on the strap while ratcheting to keep the strap tight to prevent the hooks from coming unhooked. It's really not hard

Since have transported many bikes I picked up tie down straps, they are 18" long with a 4" open loop on each end , if possible I go around the front fork as high as I can , this also keeps the ratchet on the straps away from the bike so you don't get any damage
