WD-40 saves the day.
You can use WD-40 on your rain sock to keep your open element filters from ingesting water.
My wife's on a ride with her club, they rode in rain yesterday, the bikes all spent the night in the rain and then they are riding in heavy rain again. She has the the SE Heavy Breather on her FXDFSE with the rain sock. This morning she began having problems with water in the intake, one of the ladies behind said it would occasionally belch a big cloud of steam and her bike would stumble like it had no power. She called me asking what to do, she thought she was having engine trouble, or that she had water in her gas. I had her buy a can of WD-40 she pulled her rain sock, and used a microfiber shammy to suck the water out of it and then soaked the sock in WD-40. Problem solved. No more big gulps of water with the attendant stumbles and steam farts.
