Default $5K over MSRP on 2018 Models

Well we are very blessed to live within 25 to 40 miles of four HD dealers.

Tilley's Statesville & Salisbury
Crossroads in Wilkesboro
Smokin in Winston-Salem

I have bought three new bikes from Tilleys and one new bike from Crossroads. I tried once to trade with Smokin and NEVER got a price. They want to play the "where do you want your payment game" and load you up with every warranty and service known to man.

But we do really like the people there at Smokin as well as the other dealerships. We actually spent $700.00 there today in motor cloths.

But to the point. My wife wanted to see the new 2018 models. So we went to Smokin which was closest. They had 7 new models including a really sharp Street Glide CVO. I am very impressed with all the new models I have seen. That said I asked why none of the 2018's have a price on them and what the MSRP is on the FLHX CVO. He grinned and said they ALL have a $5k premium over MSRP and he was informed by management that it is NON-Negotiable!!!

Well that really pisses me off!

I told him I hope they find SUCKERS with more money than brains. His reply was "they are born every day"!

Relax ya'll, it'll turn into a $5K rebate in a few months.

No way, no how. I always pay MSRP because I have no desire to spend half a day in a sales office. My last new bike purchase took a tad more than an hour from the time I walked in the door until I had the fob for my bike.

That being said, I'll never pay over MSRP.

They are always a premium for several weeks after release - at all dealers.

That is the price of being an early adopter. Just wait 60 days and you can negotiate a good deal.

Buy on cold, snowy, icy, wintry January 3 and the dealer will be paying you to buy it. Never pay "first one on the block" fees.

That is a Sucker's $5000 Premium. Only someone who wants to make a charitable donation to the dealer will pay that.

This! Walk through the door with cash in hand on the second week of January. It's after Christmas, tax refunds are months away, nobody has any money and the dealer is staring at another interest payment on his floor plan.
