Default hardwiring radar detector CVO Breakout 2014

Hi Folks--
I'd like to do a hardwire installation of a mounted radar detector on my Breakout. Should I run from the battery or fuses box? The detector will always be removed so I don't need a switched connection.
Thanks!

I would do it to an accessory fuse in the box. Thats how I did it in my car and it was easy enough.

Wiring direct to the battery is just asking for trouble.

To the battery with a fuse inline should be fine as well. Wouldn't have to buy any HD ACC connectors then.

That's great to know. I am ignorant about electronics and it sounds easier to wire to the battery. I have seven bikes to do the install for, so the easier and cheaper the better! How do I find out what type of fuse to use?

The cleanest way that I have found is to tap into your diagnostic port for 12v power. That way it will be both fused and switched power.

I bought the Deutsch plugs off of Amazon, but you can get them just about anywhere. You'll just need to figure out if you need 4 pin or 6 pin connectors.

As long as its on a fuse, makes no difference where you connect to, battery or accessory lead. If at battery, fuse should be as close to the battery as possible.
