Default Exhaust pipes upgrade

I'd like to upgrade the pipes on my 2016 model sporster 48 to get some more power but don't want them too noisy. Would welcome any recommendations.
Thanks

A 2:1 system will almost always give you more power.

I went to a few dealerships and listened to a some bikes that rode in and made my choice that way. You can hear some online but nothing beats hearing them in person.

Look into what Cobra makes for Sportsters, specifically, their non-RPT models.

I had V&H Straightshot slip ons on my old '15 48, and they were loud as Hell. I have Cobra 3" Slash Cut slip ons on my '17 Slim - they are nice, but nowhere near as loud as the Straightshots.

One of the best systems for power and sound is the Supertrapp 2-1. You can adjust the sound level using removable discs in the end cap.

I put V&H Straight Shots on the wife's 2016 1200, and like was stated above, they are pretty damned loud.

I saw a brand new Street Bob with Straightshots, installed by a local shop, since Harley Davidson dealer wouldn't install them, and they were incredibly loud. After some digging, found they sell Quiet and Super Quiet baffles that would still give you a lot more umph than factory stock.

First of all the options available are enormous. Many people opt for a 2 into 1 for maximum power while many people just do not like the esthetics and stay with 2 into 2. My question to you is, "Do you really want more power?"

The stock exhaust is so quiet and restricted it doesn't feel or sound like a Harley to many people. Sometimes an inexpensive set of slip-ons will change your whole experience and it will seem more powerful. Typically if you want to actually get more incremental power you must also change the intake and remap your bike's computer with a tuner of some type. Even then the difference in power is negligible unless you also change the cams. All the above can get expensive. Choosing an exhaust system should be done systematically and over time. Too many guys on this forum have burned through big bucks by making the wrong choice. Often several times. DO NOT BUY A FULL EXHAUST WITHOUT HEARING IT IN PERSON ON THE SAME BIKE AS YOURS. YouTube doesn't cut it when it comes to sound. Which brings me back to slip-ons. This inexpensive mod will buy you time and make a positive change to your riding experience. Browse the forum classifieds for a used set and throw them on.

I've got an EVO era Bagger that was freshened up a couple of years back and went the classic engine upgrade, Andrews 27, 10:1 pistons, some head work, ignition upgrade, CV carb installed, etc.

When it came to my pipe I really wanted to keep the duals, but my research convinced me that a 2 into 1 was the way to go, and I preferred a nice but subdued rumble at reasonable throttle openings.

The Supertrapp gave me the ability to modify my sound, and luckily the quiet end of the sound produces the most power at lower RPMS without giving up a lot at the top, great for my heavy bike.

Where do you ride most times (RPM's), where do you want your power?
