Default Nice bike but.....

Nice looking Harley. And I'm sure in today's world it was a challenge, but..... My 93 year old father-in-law tells me frequently about how after WWll ended he took off from Southern California on his 1935 VLD, rode up to eastern Washington to see family and his future wife (my wife's mom) and then rode across the US to North Carolina to report for duty. He mustered out of the Army Air Force shortly thereafter, sold the Harley and bought an engagement ring for his future wife. That was his his 2nd Harley, 1st was a 1929 JD. His last was a mid-50's Panhead.

Interesting story but I wondered a couple things. Firstly why did he keep getting rust in his fuel system and what chewed up the 2nd gear in his transmission?

I wonder how long he had the new tanks sitting in the shop and if he sealed them.

What is even more amazing; that bike was involved in a fire earlier in the summer and beautifully rebuilt.
