GF wants to chime in on this one:

I had a Dyna LowRider, a Triumph Tiger, and a Kawa Ninja 300. The biggest challenge I had was the very quick reminder that the LR's friction zone started almost immediately, the Tiger is in midrange, and the Ninja is late.

Gearing, body position, weight and handling on each is different, body position is different. It takes very little time to adjust once you get underway because the mechanics are mostly the same.

But what remains exactly the same is you and your judgment. Riding riskier on the street based on motorcycle choice is your decision.

I usually have four bikes on the road, my Road King, two BMWs, and a Suzuki DR650. The only thing I really have to remember is that the turn signal controls are different. Those four bikes are different types of bikes, so I don't ever forget which one I'm riding.

I have a HD and a Triumph. The only think you have to think about (and its only for th 1st 2 minutes) is the Triumph handles faster then the HD. Thats it. DOnt over think it

I think you are at more risk because you are on two bikes at once...

Try going back and forth from a Road King to a Harley Sprint.
Not only is the shifter and brake on different side, the shift pattern is upside down too.
Every time I get on the sprint, I go to use the foot brake and end up upshifting..haha

the biggest issue I found was the other bike not having self canceling turn signals so I pretty much forget to turn them off. So I'm the guy riding around with his blinker on.

Thinking that I would start to try to handle the heavier Softail like the lighter Triumph, and start to misjudge corners, or braking, etc?

Thoughts?

I doubt it but that's just my opinion based on when I had 2 bikes, a Springer and also for a few years, an 883, talk about difference in handling. lol

How about if ya get on a bike with "Overwhelming" horse power, you just "kiss" the throttle and the bike takes off like a rocket, pulls up on the rear wheel, and goes over throwing the rider (you) down on your backside...then is the risk greater?
