However taken in context, hope you where laughing when you said it. That just may have not sounded too good to a significant other non Rider.
Yeah, I do it to get a rise out of her but seriously I drive more defense now then I ever have in my life. I also do not ride in congested areas and usually ride the roads less traveled.

In her defense she was not referring to my age so much as to the safety of riding and wanting me to be around.

I have a lot and I mean a lot of rural areas around me and a couple of big state parks that allow me to ride many times without seeing someone else on the road. I also ride at sun up when most of the millennials are still sleeping.

74 last October. Ridden road and off road longer than I can remember. Suffered a bad dirt bike crash riding in desert last Thanksgiving that put me on crutches for a few weeks. But still riding both. Just takes longer to heal now.

at 69 I think I will know when it's time to stop but for now, not yet.

I'd say you're too old to ride when you lose your mental "edge" and your confidence, and when the perceived risks exceed the rewards.

I just turned fifty. Have always been in good shape. Four years ago at work had an incident that broke my neck and back. Multiple surgeries later I still have daily pain and loss of feeling in various body parts. I can't ride the miles at a time that I used to. But I still can ride and will until the legs give out then probably a trike. With all the problems my King is still more comfortable than my car. But when function goes I have to see what happens. I lose use of my left leg some days and eventually I will altogether.
