Default eBay oil filters: what's inside...OMG...

Thought I would try some aftermarket oil filters from an eBay seller. Nearly died when I got them and compared them to my genuine HD filters. What I found when I opened just floored me. Judge for yourselves:

This is what I found when I first cut this filter open.

Turned the filter element around and noticed it wasn't assembled properly. Glue everywhere.

Sorry for the blur-vision. Spot welds were pretty sloppy.

Notice the spaces where the glue has not been applied? That's going to be one mother of a problem as unfiltered oil makes its way by.

Sealant is missing in big spaces, top and bottom. The brace for the filter element was bent when I opened it (no I didn't do it).

Aftermarket eBay white box filter on the left. Genuine Harley Davidson 63796-77A filter on the right. The difference in quality is night and day.

$68 for a case of 12. I'm sending them back.

I've always ran K&N, since Mobil doesn't make filters for bikes. I don't run cheap filters on anything I own... it's good insurance

Tell them there were eleven ‘good’ ones and one that apparently had suffered a failure during the manufacturing process.

K&N here as well. When it comes to my bikes or any motor vehicle for that matter, the only place I skimp is maybe finding the best deal on gas with the gas buddy app. But never even worry about that on my bikes. Just making a point. Well, I of course look for the best deal when making modification purchases but point remains. I have bought bulk K&N filters and bulk quality synthetic oil to save a few bucks but never buy junk.
