Default Why not Doppler?

A few years ago I was heading to Colorado from NC and the weather turned real ugly near the Kansas Colorado line. It was horrendous, lightning cracking, wind and very heavy rain. I was fortunate enough to pull off at some exit and found shelter under a gas canopy at an old closed gas station. I was trying to complete the iron butt bun burner 1500. I was thinking that my attempt was over. After about 30 minutes of really scary lightning, wind and rain I happened to think to look on my phone at the Doppler radar. The storm was huge but running very slowly mostly north eastwardly but was very long and narrow. Here's the point...I guestimated that is was only about 20 or 30 miles wide. Wanting to do the 1500, I saddled up and punched hard thru it. I did make it to Georgetown Colorado to complete the ride but had an epiphany along the way. Nowadays, the new scoots have the big gps screen, I won't digress into my disdain for GPS (getting lost is half the fun), but here's where I need some help please. Why doesn't HD add Doppler to that screen??????? Why not put something useful on it???? Doppler showing the weather would allow us to see whats coming at us and either punch thru or circumnavigate. Am I the only one that is puzzled by this? Since that experience, I have mentioned this at every dealership that I have stopped at. Yes I like stopping at HD, Indian and Honda Yamaha shops to admire the bikes. Been riding HD for 30 years, but I for one love them all. No one has Doppler. I say PLEASE HD DO IT FIRST. Do y'all agree?????

Why not just continue to use an app on your phone?

It would be nice to see a storm coming. With that big screen, I could see the storm, assess my plan an roll on.

With the big screen and Sirius radio you can look at the radar.

Get a weather radio that receives NOAA broadcasts on 162.400 through 162.525 mhz.

Knowlede about the depth and length of the storm is critical if you are rolling long and hard. It would be nice to see it and whats coming while rolling down the road. So that a rider would know if he should hole up somewhere or suck it up and punch thru. My hope is that HD would make that an option on that big screen. My hope is that maybe they look at this forum and do it first. Also, Yes, I proudly say that as a yougun my first bike was a Yamaha. Rode the immortal hell out of them until I could afford am HD. I respect and appreciate all bikes. All riders are our brothers. All of them.

Just get The Weather Channel app on your phone and roll long and hard all you want.

In't there already a weather overlay option on the new bikes if you have a Sirius Weather subscription?
