I commute on one of my bikes daily. Usually alternate between them. I tend to only drive if it is raining or a high chance of rain when I'm leaving for work. I don't care if it rains on my way home, just don't want to arrive to an office soaking wet. I usually go down to 40 degrees temp wise but have been known to push that closer to 30 degrees a few times. Haven't hit temps too high that I wouldn't ride in, STL will get 100+ temps with high humidity occasionally but still ride in it. Ice and snow or if I have to haul something or my dog, I take my utility vehicle, a Mustang GT.

Although I put more miles on my bike each year than my truck, I do not use my bike to commute. I don't think I would ever want to, either as it would diminish the enjoyment I get from riding. It's something to do to blow off steam and unwind AFTER work. It's something to look forward to, not something to be associated with the daily grind. I am also glad I live in a climate with harsh winters Jan-Mar as riding year-around would probably diminish it as well. Bike goes in when the ice and snow comes out late Dec, Early Jan and by middle of march, can't wait to get the bike out again. Take at least two big trips each year and total mileage usually is around 10-15,000 miles per year when its all said and done. But I dont really count the miles and have no ambition to be a 'lifestyle biker' or other things some people strive for. Its always just been about the ride and enjoyment.

At this point in my life, I'm a weekend warrior. I have to drop off/pick up my stepdaughter off at school every other week and drop off/pick up my son at my mom's every workday. My stepdaughter started her senior year in high school yesterday and she'll be driving on her own soon. Maybe when my son is a older (he's 4) and can get his own form of transportation to and from school I can ride to work more, if not make it my primary form of transportation. But right now, any chance I can get to ride to work I definitely take it.
Anytime I have to work on the weekend I ride. Also like to run errands on the bike as much as I can.

I ride to work 3 - 4 days a week. I have about a 30 minute commute but mostly rural roads. It's good for my mind to start and end the day on the bike. I have a two year old at home so once I get home it's family time but also pretty busy, the ride back and forth are really the only time to myself. I have a truck too but only take it if it's raining or I have somewhere I have to be with my gear.
