Hi, many dealers are now starting to "deal" below MSRP, that time of year (new '08bike allotment at end of July is reduced by # of '07's still in dealer's invty).
If you know approx how much over cost they usually make when they sell at MSRP, that would help me and others toward "offering" an amount for new bike. Thanks !!

 

its not as much as you might think. Depending on the bike, I think it runs in the $1500 to $2500 range. Thats not including bling and labor for that bling - markup on bling is prolly 100%

I can tell you that the dealer cost on a 20K Ultra in 2001 was just north of 12k. I saw the factory invoice.

 

It's funny watching guys thinking they are going to get over on the dealer.

 

Why not offer what you are willing to pay?

 

I heard the average profit on a harley is between $3000 and $3500

 

and you are COMPLETELY wrong. Not even close to makeing 8k on a bike.

 

Who reallycares, if you can get it below MSRP you got a deal.

 

Dude ... I'm telling you what I saw. The sales guy walked away and left the paperwork on the desk. The invoiced amount to the dealer on my 21k out the door 01 Ultra was 12k and change. Markup on parts is even more ridiculous. I bought a couple pallets of parts from dealer that was closing and he supplied me with inventory sheets. His cost on a 180.00 badlander seat was 52.00 ... this is just one example.
