So far a great bike for me as well. I will probably pass up the opportunity to buy a M8 and purchase a garage queen Rushmore instead.

Thank you to all that replied.i guess I can see the point of more moving parts. I can also see the issue with a new motor working the bugs out. I have a 2016 wide glide and so far I have been happy. Plenty of power with only stage one done. I never heard my bike with the stock exhaust .changed everything from the door. I hope the moco worked all the tc bugs out before 2016.

Now we can all wax nostalgically for Harley's golden days of the venerable twinkie.

My main complaint is the heat it throws off. Nice for this time of year, I guess.

It is the most "reliable" Harley engine built so far.

This is great! Every new motor has it's issues. And with every new motor, there are going to be the nay-sayers that have the last iteration that think its the best. Go through the forums, there are flathead, knuckle, pan, shovel, evo, twinkie fans all over that think their favorite is the best motor the MOCO ever made. I am not saying that any of them are wrong, its all just opinion. With the right upgrades/modifications you can make any of these motors into what you want them to be. That being said, switch out to gear drive cams on a Twinkie and you have one hell of a reliable motor. I am still a fan of the old pans though! I would love to pick up an old pan and build a rat style hardtail chop.

I've got good service from the three "twinkies" I currently own, sure each new engine has had their problems but mine hasn't started to sump or transfer trans oil over into the primary. HD wanted gear drives for the cams but EPA squashed that idea, so the cam shoes were installed to eliminate that noise.

Default Twin Cam Heat

I think the more they increased the ci in in a twin cam the worse the heat got. My Dyna started out as an 88 cu in with no heat issues at all. It's now a 95 cu in but runs relatively cool by comparison to the 103s. I had a 103 with stage one i.e.pipes, larger air intake, and download in the ecm, and it ran quite hot. I changed the piped from true duals to power duals and that helped but didn't solve that problem. My M8 runs a bunch cooler with a couple of torque mods and is a pleasure to ride even in the summer.
