Default What's wrong with the twin cam engine?

I see a lot of you guys like to call the twin cam a twinkly. I was just wondering as a twin cam owner why some consider that particular motor to be no good.

Everything was wrong with the Twin Cam ever since it's inception until the Milwaukee 8 came out. You can thank the M8 for making the TC the best Harley engine ever, best sounding, with no issues whatsoever. This happened right after the M8 started hitting showroom floors

Twinkie... is just combining Twin and Cam, as a nickname. Some like them some don't. I think you'd be hard pressed to find a better engine from HD. Some have their love for certain models, but as a reliable power producer...

Nothing wrong with them other than they sound like a Singer sewing machine.

I never liked the idea of adding more moving parts (wear items...i.e.cams, shoes, chain) to an engine that didn't seem to need it, especially the first generation mechanical tensioners.
