Had a Sporty with a trike kit that had a rebuild title. The only problem I had was the local Indian dealer wouldn't take it on trade because he said the banks wouldn't do loans. The guy who bought got a loan. If you want it check it out good and drive them on the price. Oh yeah, the Sporty was a good bike. The story was it had been recovered from a theft.

Likewise, if it was a bent frame and someone repaired it, it would be a nightmare deal for the buyer if it wasn't done right.

Salvage title; opportunity or black plague?
There`s always an element of risk for one of those bikes. Sometimes even an experienced bike mechanic will miss something which just doesn`t show up until later. Be careful.

Smart move. Just be patient and look around for the bike you really want, and make a deal that suits you. "Patient" is the key word here. BTW, this is the right time to buy a used bike.

I’d do it but it would have to be cheap and I’d definitely verify it wasn’t stolen before purchase

If I were to keep it and not resell I would do it. But you need to check it out closely. I was once looking at a used truck originally from Texas. It had a salvage title but had never been in a wreck or anything. It was listed at a very good price because of the salvage title. It turns out the gooseneck hitch had been welded in.Texas, supposedly doesn't allow that and issued a salvage title for it. I wouldn't touch it with a 10' pole, just seemed fishy to me.

If I could walk through salvage yard to see the bikes and ask questions about them .Like why does it have salvage title . Does it start or crank ? I could get interest for the right price .

It was meant purely in jest. I'm pretty sure hvac can take it.

Copart tells you why it has a salvage title, in many cases the reasons are obvious.Lot's of brand new vehicles on dealer lots became a total loss in Houston hurricane Harvey. Some started even after being flooded.
Perhaps the flood water did not reach the intake.
