Default Riding in Texas question

The last time I did any motorcycle riding in Texas was in the late seventies early eighties. Was considering doing some riding in 2019 but a relative of mine who used to live in Texas said the drivers there now are terrible, probably the worst in the country. Every time he's been in a road accident it's been in Texas. Now this is just one person's opinion, and I don't mean to offend anyone who lives in Texas, but would like to respectively ask, is there any truth to that at all?

Yes, the drivers are horrible and it's very unsafe to ride a motorcycle in Texas.............please stay away for your own safety.

No worse than anywhere else man. I’ve been in 45 of the lower 48 and while Houston ranks in the top 10% of ******* drivers for me, Texas as a whole isn’t any worse than anywhere else. I ride here daily, my one wreck in TX was in 1994, most recent was in NC. All of mine have been caused by being hit or run off the road.

Hell until i hurt hurt my shoulder to the point I couldn’t support myself for long distances, I did 3500-5000 miles a year on a roabicycle all around the metro of DFW. That’s where you’d need to worry about idiots and I rarely encountered one there as well.

Just how many accidents has this friend been in?

There are lots of riders who go through their entire riding career without ever having an accident.
And then there are riders (or even automobile drivers) that seem to have multiple accidents within a 5 year period.

All of the rise in accidents and bad *** driving in the last few years can be attributed to all of the foreigners that have invaded Texas. This from a Native Texan. I can still remember " The Good Old Days" When Texas was Texas. Before the invasion.

Kinda hard to generalize about Texas, so many different areas and types of traffic.

What he said....BIG State.....

Houston sucks, Dallas/Fort Worth sucks....any large Metro area will obviously suck, as I'm sure it does in every other State in the U.S....

Where I live here in NW Texas, drivers are for the most part very courteous, which makes daily riding on yer scoot a pleasure....

I've had a few bad altercations with motorists, but that's a handful over the last 37 yrs riding a scoot here, 27 yrs riding a Harley....

When I'm on the road, I'll go 100 miles out of my way to avoid going through a major metro area, Texas included.

Nothing different about Texas compared to anywhere else that I can see.
