Wife and I we're members and had a good experience with the organization.

 

IIRC, they defended the beanie helmet/fake DOT sticker LEO "harassment" in California back in the mid-90's.
Now you can wear anything you want in Ca..as long as it looks like a helmet.

 

not so in Tn.

 

I wear a helmet...I'm from Michigan...ABATE should take on OBAMA CARE !!!!

I belonged for a year when O got my endorsement. My experience was the same as Kingglide. People seems to think is was a biker club in my area as well. My impression was the people frequenting the meetings and getting into the mag photos were those who couldn't get into any other club. Being a bit anti social anyway I look for a reason not to join a group so my reasoning works great for me.

I'll be part of the unpopular minority here and go on record with helmet laws save lives and obnoxious pipes suck.

 

The MCCA (mandated) fee is for each and every insured, licensed motor vehicle operated in Michigan.
There is a separate fee on motorcycle insurance policies for those who want to ride WITHOUT a helmet and I assume that this requirement was part of a "take it or leave it" deal in order to eliminate the helmet law for a majority of the endorsed riders.

 

Abate is very strong in Indiana, they have a great program teaching new riders and getting your motor cycle endorsement.
Plus no helmet laws!

 

I feel the same way. The only thing loud pipes has done here is to get the towns and cities to pass a noise ordinance. Makes life miserable for all.
