Default Cleaning the carb in 93 883 xlh Sportster

Hi, I'm new to this forum thing. Im trying to fix my 93 883. It will literally soak the bottom side of the air filter while running, so I ran for a summer with the cover off to help dry out the gas on the filter. Yesterday I took apart the carb and cleaned it. It wasn't that dirty the Jets we're clean and ports. The intake manifold off the carb going into the blocks is loose on both blocks but I can't imagine that's why my air filter is soaked in gas. Also it is a CV kiehin carb and I found the print of the parts of the carb but the print isn't labeld as to which part is which it just shows the numbers of each part. Any one of else experience this soaked air filter problem?

Are you saying you have air leaks at the manifold? Did you replace float and needle and seat and check the float for height?

A Harley Davidson Service Manual will help you with your carburetor work. I'd check the float level adjustment.

The manifold is loose at the blocks , like it moved alot when I removed the carb. All the parts seem fine except the bowl gasket. And how do I check the float for weight? It moves freely no problem. Their is little to no info in my Harley manual on carb and carb cleaning

Your Harley Davidson SERVICE Manual doesn't have detailed instructions for Carburetor maintenance or Intake Manifold installation??? I'm not talking about the Owner's Manual.

There is another forum for Sportsters that I found extremely helpful. I was pretty active in that when I had my Sporty. It is much like this forum....lots of activity and knowledgable people on it. Join that, introduce yourself and give it a try.

http://xlforum.net/forums/

I'm certain you will find some help over there too. Good luck.
And Welcome from Spartan Country Michigan!!!
