I won't drink there cool aid. It's a crock of sh/t to spend over a thousand dollars to listen to music. I'm very happy with my 7 pin plug and the Harley headset. Don't need to worry about charging the headset or more electronics on my bike. Doesn't bother me a bit to just unplug when getting off the bike. If you have a passenger, BOOM!..there's another 6 or $700 dollars plus having to worry about keeping both headsets charged for only 6 hrs. Before needing charged again. What a money waster.
To add to your comments, I have found on Amazon a 7 pin plug to 3.5 mm jack, then I ordered a female 3.5 mm plug to plug in your favorite earphones. My wife wears a half helmet and doesn’t like the Harley headset but doesn’t mind the earphones. Now she can hear the music and I can talk to her without turning my head and yelling. If she needs to say something to me she just leans forward and talks in my ear.

I actually like the Boom system. Had it's quirks at the start but it does fine. There's no way to make everybody happy though. And shame on Harley Davidson for wanting to make a profit. Who do they think they are anyway. Looks like a lot of HD haters on here. There are other brands of motorcycles too.

Music Quality
I don't know about anybody else but the music from the Bluetooth whim is really bad quality on my bike and yes I have the HD branded Sena 20S EVO. Finally got so frustrated with the whole system I just Bluetooth music directly to my sena or to my ear buds. The quality is so much better than going through the boom system...If I had it to do over again, I would not whim my bike and would have gotten a Sena 20 or 30 from somewhere else.

I wasn’t pointing my finger at you, sorry if you took it that way. Didn’t mean to ruffle your feathers. No fantasy land here, which really made no sense either. I really do like the Boom system as many others do too. An audiophile may not though.

I posted this in Audio but not sure if it's the right place so I will add to this existing WHIM post.
Regarding the issue Harley has with wireless headsets and not being able to connect unless you have a WHIM and even then, not having full function unless you have a Harley branded wireless headset....
Has anyone tried using the DIN kit from Harley and connecting to a Freewire from Sena? This seems too easy but there is a DIN kit for the Street Glide that just plugs into existing wiring and provides the 7 pin DIN plug required for the Sena Freewire to connect. I don't see how this wouldn't work, just wonder if the Freewire would fit in the cubby so it could be easily removed to charge or maybe even plugged into the USB for power. The DIN could rest under the fairing and a small hole could be drilled in the back of the cubby to run the cable to the Freewire.
Has anyone tried this? Seems legit but I haven't seen this solution used anywhere. $70 for the Kit and $250 for the Freewire and you can use any headset with full functions and stereo.
