When I bought my bike the dealer had a CVO Softail on the floor. It might have been a Lowrider but I don't remember. Anyway I thought man that is a lot of money, quite a bit over the regular models. Then I looked at the MSRT, holy cow they had marked it down quite bit. It was painted in some really nice colors but the layout was funky. I thought about it and maybe it would grow on me if I did buy it. Anyway I passed. That bike sat on the floor for quite awhile. BTW my dealer throws in a free 1,000 mile service with every new bike and they go over them with fine toothed comb. I had to put the stock mufflers back on when I took it in. I had left one of the mounting bolts out because it is hard to get to and out of sight and I would be changing it back the next day anyway. When I got it back home the bolt had been replaced. I was impressed.

Average Dealer invoice for 2019 Street Glide CVO is approx 33,938.00 without shipping, dealer prep, state or local taxes, title, license etc this will give you an idea of what you should be able to negotiate. This does not mean the dealer will actually negotiate but there are other dealers. There is nothing like a road trip or plane trip and drive back.

Way to come in and crap all over mans post with your irrelevant opinion. Didn’t we just have a post about haters?

Matt,
there was a road glide CVO at my dealer that set for ever, salesman seemed eager to move it. I’d say there should be no problem for them to have room to negotiate.

"Cash is king"

We're not buying a house here.

A dealer will finance your bike just as quick as he'll take cash. In the end he still gets paid.

In fact I suspect the dealer makes even more money for selling you the loan but I'm not familiar enough with all that to say 100% for sure. My guess is the dealer can either give you some points off the loan or keep them for themselves.

Either way, they're more than happy to "help" you get that bike.

When the dealer gets a commission from a lender for selling a loan product, and you offer to pay cash, you are taking $ out of the dealers cash register.

If they know this ahead of time, they will build that lost revenue into the cash price.

Figure out what you are willing to pay for the bike, then NEGOTIATE THE OUT THE DOOR PRICE , THEN DISCUSS PAYMENT METHODS.

Never tell them how much you want your payments to be, they will work that backwards to figure out the price and then add some more because you can afford that extra $50.00/month for 7 years right?

Hey Larry - I should clarify... When I said cash is king, what I should of said was make an offer and be ready to pull the trigger right there and then. No I'll pay you Tuesday for a hamburger today. I just wanted short and sweet but what you said is correct..

I would also like to say that HD financing has no penalty for paying a bike off early....so if its a point of contention at the dealer, go ahead and finance it and then pay it off....I paid off both my Harleys YEARS in advance....

Not sure any installment loans have pre payment penalties anymore. I think that nasty feature was gone decades ago. At least on loans that aren't granted by someone name Frankie No-Nose.
