Default Battery change out

I was told when replacing the battery used to start the bike with a siren security system, that all you had to do was make sure the fob was within close enough distance to disarm the security system while changing out the battery and this way you'll have no problem with the alarm system. Is this correct procedure, or is there some other trick to replace the battery without setting off the alarm, or having it work correctly after install of battery.
Thanks Jonnierock

Having the fob present doesn’t prevent the alarm from sounding. If you pull the main fuse, it will start sounding the alarm. What you wanna do is unplug the alarm module right next to the main fuse before swapping batteries. Then plug it back in when you’re done.

what you have to do is to turn your ignition on with your fob nearby. then after the alarm has deactivated, switch the ignition off. between the time that you have switched it off, and when the alarm activates, you have a second that you wanna pull the maxi fuse. that will keep your alarm from going off and the battery back up on the siren from sounding the siren.

I think what you described is the way the instructions that came with my alarm said to do it but that didn't work for me. My owners manual says to turn on the ignition then remove the main fuse. You should turn the ignition off before reinstalling the fuse.

Changed my battery today. Not claiming I did it correctly but I just had my fob on me & the alarm didn't make a peep.

Recently replaced mine. Followed instruction in Owners Manual. 2014 Dyna

Removing old battery:
FOB near bike turn ignition ON to disable alarm.
Disconnect negative cable first. Then positive.

Installing new battery:
Connect positive first. Then negative.
Turn ignition off.

That’s it

That's exactly how is says to do it in the manual, but when removing the battery the with that procedure the headlight and taillight are on, correct ? And that worked.
