2014 Softail Heritage starts without key fob anywhere near it
Why is my 2014 Softail Heritage starting without key fob anywhere near it? I thought that the purpose of the Key Fob was in order to start the bike the fob must be near the bike. Do I have to reset something ? Is there a fuse for the security on the bike itself. Any help is very much appreciated.

Some of the FOBS have no button, they are just a hard plastic case - not sure what the deal is with that, my 2015 has no button my 2002 had a button......IDK - that is a good question & honestly the FOB is one thing I really never mess with, when I park it out of my site I lock the steering with the barrel key, guess someone could start it & ride in circles?
Ill have to read the book on this.

I had one put on my 2012 WG when I bought it after my 2011 without it was stolen. It has no button on it. My 2017 SGS came with it and the FOB while a little different than the one for my 2012 WG also has no button.
I know you can punch in your code to start the bike without the FOB, but I thought that reset as soon as you shut the bike off and next time you started you would either have to punch in the code again or have the FOB nearby.

the proximity fob started in 2007 with the touring bikes. before that, you had the pushbutton fob.
if your bike is starting without the fob nearby, there are 3 options:
your second fob is in the saddlebag/on the bike somewhere
your security has not been set up
your bike didn't come with security

Bike been serviced by a dealer lately? They can put it in service mode, which allows you to retain your fob(s) while they service the bike (including starting it without a fob, or PIN). They've been known to leave it in service mode when returning the bike to the customer.
The procedure for entering/exiting service mode is not in the OM, or the FSM. It must be manipulated via Digital Technician II.
